Sibling Rivalry & the Jealousy Within!

Sibling Rivalry & the Jealousy Within!SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

We were all really excited that my sixteen, Michael, was coming for a visit. My other two children, Jordan (8) and Caleb (10), couldn't wait for their big brother to get here. Both of them had made sure they had all of their Yu-Gi-Oh cards together to show him, the Yatzee game ready to play, and all of their video games in the correct boxes.

Jordan and Caleb are pretty close in age but Michael is sixteen ... a huge difference, so I wondered how things would go and the following three pics pretty much sum up Jordan's experience with his big brother!

Yep, my eight year old was extremely jealous and even confided in my friend (the one that just lost her home to fire) that "Mom buys Mikey everything and doesn't buy me anything".

W-H-A-T!

To me that's just an example of how spoiled my kids really are. Jordan is jealous because I bought Michael a car, I bought Michael a pricey Mp3 player, and a reel for his fishing rod. My ten year old, Caleb, always gripes over what I buy for Jordan. And poor Michael never says an unkind word about anything which I think is pretty uncommon for a teen.

Yesterday when it was time to take Michael to the airport he smiled before heading to the gate to board his plane and I snapped a picture of my easy going son. I'm really proud of him and believe he is gonna be just fine. The fact that Jordan refused to hug him good-bye didn't seem to bother him at all.

The kids spent a lot of time together playing games, swimming, and wrestling with only a couple of small arguments in between. All in all, it went well and I can't wait until he comes back next time ... hopefully Jordan will be over his jealousy by then! I can only pray :)
